Junior Player Development Pathway

Structured Growth From First Swing to Competitive Readiness

At Diane’s Golf Academy, junior development follows a clear age-based progression built on the 8-Pillar Development Framework.

Each stage builds confidence, athletic skill, and on-course intelligence — preparing players for the next level.

Fairway Sprouts (Ages 4–6)

Introduction to Movement, Fundamentals, and Love of the Game

This is where it begins.

Young athletes develop:
• Safety awareness
• Basic grip, setup, and half-swing movement
• Coordination and balance
• Confidence and enjoyment

Training is active, engaging, and structured around foundational movement patterns.

We build athletic habits early — correctly.

Goal:
Develop confident, coordinated young golfers who love coming to the course.

Fairway Flyers (Ages 7–10)

Building Skill, Structure, and Scoring Awareness

As players mature, training becomes more structured and technical.

Athletes develop:
• Full-swing fundamentals
• Short game introduction
• Basic scoring skills
• Pre-shot routine foundations
• On-course awareness

Players begin understanding not just how to swing — but how to play.

Goal:
Develop technically sound juniors who understand structure and progression.

Pin Seekers (Ages 11+)

Competitive Preparation and Performance Development

This stage transitions from learning the game to performing within it.

Athletes train in:
• Advanced ball-striking
• Short game scoring systems
• Strategic course management
• Mental and emotional resilience
• Competitive discipline

Players begin tracking progress and learning to own their preparation.

Goal:
Develop independent, confident players prepared for competitive environments.

8 Pillars of Support

1.  Enjoy the Process

Love of the game built through enjoyment, effort, curiosity, and engagement. Players feel safe to try, fail, and improve without fear of mistakes.

2. Fundamentals

Grip, posture, alignment, setup and half swings — the foundational positions that create consistency.

3. Athletic Movement

Balance, coordination, rotation, and efficient movement patterns that support long-term skill development.

4. Habits & Preparation

Routines, focus, accountability, reflection, and ownership that create consistency and confidence.

5. Skill Development & Scoring Practice

Purposeful practice across all areas of the game — building the skills that lower scores, including solid contact, distance control, short-game performance, shot selection, and decision-making through feedback-driven practice.

6. Progress Tracking & Feedback

Making improvement visible through simple metrics, report cards, notes, and regular review.

7. Mental & Emotional Skills

Focus, emotional control, resilience, and response to mistakes.

Golf exposes emotion.  Without emotional control, skill collapses under pressure.  Mental skills allow physical skills to show up when needed

8. On-Course Management

Solid strategies, smart targets, and commitment to each shot — helping players avoid big mistakes and play to their strengths.
